This is a 10-session workshop on resilience based on the 7Cs of Resilience by Kenneth Ginsburg (2015).
As proposed by Ginsburg’s theory of resilience, there are 7 building blocks of resilience that help build resilience among children and youths. The factors are namely:
1. Competence: Identify the child’s strengths and create opportunities to develop their potential.
2. Confidence: Learn to navigate problems, think out of the box, and recover from challenges, thus building confidence.
3. Connection: Build relationships with other individuals, schools, and communities.
4. Character: Equip the child with skills to differentiate between right and wrong.
5. Coping: Equip the child with a range of healthy coping strategies.
6. Control: Understand factors within their control and to make responsible decisions.
7. Contribution: Experience and learn that being able to contribute is a joy and that the child can be assets to the community they live in.
Through the workshop, we want to encourage children to believe in themselves, to build positive relationships with others and to be an asset to the community they live in.
